People who found the first chapter upsetting are going to take issue with this one.
Biggest. Understatement. Ever.
Was really surprised (and, quite obviously, really disturbed) about the fate of the general's son. I mean, I saw something like that coming, either in that form or the form of his son killing his wife, but seriously, nothing THAT graphic. Also, did I read that wrong or did I read that he DIDN'T regret practically driving his wife to doing what she did?
That's kinda pushed him over the moral event horizon in my book. Of course, now it seems that he's taking Kokkan under his wing, so maybe he'll get to see the other side of the coin.
I have to admit I'm a little upset that the woman who had protecting Kokkan was killed for some reason (besides the obvious.) Guess I was hoping for a little development into her character.
